By Ben Pilbeam, Retail Consultant at Tryzens
Whether you are looking to replatform from an outdated eCommerce solution, wish to create a groundbreaking new design or simply want to improve user experience and conversion – we recommend reviewing your existing site’s strengths and weaknesses first.
At Tryzens we are focused on delivering fast results for our clients. Our Site Usability Review is designed to identify the best and quickest ways to improve your website’s performance and conversion rates, so you quickly see a return on your investment.
Our consultants have extensive experience implementing award-winning websites for successful retailers. We are independent of the main eCommerce platform vendors and can offer impartial advice based on our experience across several platforms. This means we know what works from a shopper and a technology perspective. To gain a full understanding of a site, we assess how it performs across the key areas of customer interaction. We focus on the usability of a site, the look and feel and ease of functionality and compare it with industry best practice.
Focus on customer experience
As a former website manager at luxury clothing retail company, Ted Baker, I know how important it is to provide a good user experience where everything just flows and is a pleasure to use. We act as mystery shoppers and test a site from end-to-end to understand the complete shopper experience. We want to see how easy it is to buy something and return it, and how well customers are served on different devices. With more and more customers using mobile and tablets it is essential that a site is fully responsive.
Our Site Usability Review evaluates over 200 criteria across all functional areas including the home page, search, how products are listed and displayed, the ease of checkout and delivery and the payment process. Each area is scored to provide a quick view of the site’s strengths and weaknesses.
Our findings are then presented in a Usability Report, which provides a diagnostic overview of the website’s performance and recommendations for change. The final page of the report contains a list of immediate recommendations to improve site performance and conversion.
We prioritise recommendations to show where the focus should be – the proposed changes are grouped into work packages with an estimate of the cost and effort to implement, and the likely impact. It is important to get the basics right first and then look at all the extras that will deliver improvements. We show where uplifts should come as a result of implementing our recommendations – our clients can then be confident that they will see a return on their investment within a short time period.
Our recommendations are based on the most efficient way to get the best from your site. Improving site performance is often a case of making many small incremental changes rather than an expensive, big-bang project. We know where to make quick fixes, what can be delivered out of the box and what has to be customised so your site will run really well – without costing a fortune.
