Tryzens teamed up with their software partner, Demandware, in a new way last weekend for a charity trek of the three peaks to raise money in aid of Hambo for The Matt Hampson Foundation. Gregory Straw and Ashleigh Auld boldly volunteered themselves to participate in the challenge with only three short weeks to prepare. It was dedication to trade in England’s hottest weekend of the year at 26 degrees- for rain, wind and a high of 13 degrees! It was an exciting yet somewhat daunting lead up with full encouragement from colleagues and friends.
Greg was able to track all three peaks on his Garmin and here were some stats:
- Saturday he did 32,945 steps and Sunday came in at 42,358. In a usual day, the average person would average 10,000/12,000
- They got 3.5hrs sleep in-between Ben Nevis & Scafell Pike and 2 hours between SP & Snowdon. Journey times should have been 6hrs and 4hrs, but it took longer than this with traffic etc.
- 10hrs20 total hiking time, overall time 24hrs30. Fail. However we did it!!!
Overall it was both an individual achievement as well as a shared one due to both participants completing the challenge whilst their JustGiving page went beyond initial expectations and raised £1080 in just five days. The target was set as £500. A big well done to all parties involved!
