Did you know that 22% of us start our Christmas shopping in October, and 33% in November?
We are now well into the swing of the Christmas shopping season. With retail marketers getting the bauble rolling earlier and earlier every year, our research revealed that October and November are the most popular months to begin online shopping in the UK, with the Black Friday weekend forming a key part of this peak.
Our research, independently commissioned with Magento of 1,200 UK Consumers, asked them about their online shopping habits in the festive season. With 85% of consumers saying they plan to buy at least half of their Christmas shopping online, the key for retailers is to understand these trends and prepare for 2017.
Black Friday is now being seen as the springboard for the ‘Golden Quarter’ in retail. Britons are reported to have spent a total of £5.8 billion over the course of the Cyber Weekend this year, with online sales increasing by almost 21%.
So with these key months passing, our message to retailers is this: now is not the time to enhance your online offering – it is too late. But learn from these findings, understand just how and when the consumer is buying, analyse your final trading performance of the year, and take action to enhance your offering in the year ahead.
